Phad Painting - My new found love

Hi!!

In my endeavour to try something new I have been experimenting with traditional Rajasthani Painting - Phad painting.

Phad Painting is a religious style scroll painting practised in Rajasthan. This kind of painting is done on a long piece of cloth or canvas known as phad. The narratives of the folk deities of Rajasthan especially Pabuji & Devnarayan are depicted on these phad. Scale of the figures depend on the social status of the character in the story. Also in this kind of painting the characters face each other.

The cloth / phad is starched with rice water or flour and then it is rubbed with moonstone to impart stiffness to the same. After the rough sketch is drawn the artist fill it with colour moving from light colour to darker shade. Orange is used for body parts, for ornaments and general design on the clothing yellow colour is used, green for vegetation, brown for monuments, blue for water & red for clothing. Finally it is outlined with black colour that brings out the beauty & intricacies of the characters in the painting.

I have made these paintings on 10" x 12" sized canvas using acrylic colours First one is of Lord Ganesha & the second one is of Radha-Krishna. All these drawings are net inspired & am happy with the way it has come together.

I have tried to stay true to this traditional art as much as possible & I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them. In case you have any suggestion on the same do let me know.

You can also follow me on Instagram for further updates.

Planning to explore Gond painting this week. Hopefully will be back soon with my new creation.

Till then by & take care !!!:)

Stocking /Nylon flowers

Hi !!!!

Happy Friday to all of you :)

Today I am sharing with you nylon or stocking flower bouquet with you.

My student Sanvi has made this for her father as a "Welcome Gift". It was a sheer joy making this as I was doing this after a long long time & it is always inspiring to teach kids as they are so enthusiastic and eager to learn something new.

I also did some bottle painting. This wine bottle has been lying with me for ages and I want to add some colour to it. So  I gave a base colour with glass colours and did dot painting with acrylics. This is how it looks now :) I am very happy with the outcome & I hope my hubby also feels the same .....

Do let me know what do you think of my projects :)

Till next time have a great weekend !!!:)

Glass Mural

Hi !!!

Happy Sunday to you all !!!!

Today I am going to share my glass mural which I completed few days back.

This is a 2mm glass sized 12" x 12". I have used air dry clay and used acrylic colours  to paint the same. I got the design from Pinterest and have improvised a little bit. Next time I am going to try this on a bigger size :-)

Yesterday was Bhai Dooj and I was missing my brother very much. Its been nearly  two years since he left for his heavenly aboard but the pain doesn't seem to lessen. So to uplift my mood I made this colourful doodle...

I have used acrylic brush pens to colour the same.

That's all I have to share with you..... Thanks for stopping by:)

See you next time with some more crafty projets :-)

Its been quite a while .........

Hi !! :)

Hope you are all having a great weekend. Today is Karvachauth ...... so my best wishes to everyone for the same.:)

It seems ages since I last visited my blog. Actually lot of things were going on in the home front because of which I was not able to continue with my blog writing.

Summer holidays are usually very hectic for me. With kids at home I spend most of my time in the kitchen cooking meals for them. This time I had also done a small workshop on Madhubani painting for my drawing students. Even though only few kids participated but still I enjoyed doing it immensely:) Sharing few pics of the same

I also did a small workshop for Clay Ganesha moulding. Used shilpkar, acrylic colours and mirrors, beads for decoration.

Lastly my madhubani painting of Ganesha

& my bottle painting

There are few more projects which I would like to share with you....maybe in my next post.

Till then enjoy and have a wonderful week ahead :)
